Why am I seeing different BICs on my NoFrixion accounts?
NoFrixion provides accounts in multiple currencies (EUR, GBP and USD). Depending on the currency, the account may be issued under a different BIC.
This is expected and relates to how the accounts are provisioned by our regulated banking partner, Banking Circle.
EUR Accounts
EUR accounts are issued under NoFrixion’s own BIC: NFXNIE21XXX and Irish sort code 91-00-01.
These accounts:
- Have Irish IBANs starting with IE (e.g. IE31NFXN…)
- Are fully compatible with SEPA
- Use NoFrixion’s payment infrastructure
- Are safeguarded with Banking Circle
GBP Accounts
GBP accounts are issued directly by Banking Circle A/S.
These accounts:
- May have IBANs starting with DK (reflecting the issuing bank’s Danish licence) or GB.
- Use Banking Circle’s BIC: SXPYDKKKXXX
- Remain fully valid for UK and international payments (including Faster Payments)
The “DK” prefix reflects the issuing institution’s regulatory framework - not your location, and not any limitation in functionality.
What does this mean for me?
It is normal for BICs, IBAN prefixes, or sort codes to differ depending on currency.
Regardless of currency:
- All funds are fully safeguarded
- Accounts operate under EU Electronic Money Institution (EMI) regulations
- Payments remain fully functional for their intended schemes
If you’re unsure which details to use, please contact support@nofrixion.com or you can check your payment account IBAN on an IBAN checker website.
