Why doesn't the Reference I see in NoFrixion match what I typed in my own banking app?

When you send a payment to a NoFrixion account, your bank's app usually gives you more than one free-text field to add information for the payee (e.g. a reference, a message, or a note). Different banks label and use these fields differently, and only one of them ends up as the "Reference" you see on the NoFrixion side. This can mean the field you expected to see (e.g. one labelled "Reference" in your own banking app) isn't the one that shows up.

This isn't something NoFrixion actively chooses to hide - the "Reference" field in NoFrixion reflects what is passed through to us via our payment processing partner. We can only display what we receive.

Example: sending from Bank of Ireland (BOI)

The BOI "Send money" screen has two separate fields:

• Reference
• Message to payee

In this example, NoFrixion's "Reference" field displayed the contents of BOI's "Message to payee" field - not the contents of BOI's own "Reference" field.

Example: Sending from AIB

The AIB transaction confirmation has:

• Payee message
• Additional information for payee

In this example, NoFrixion's "Reference" field displayed the contents of AIB's "Additional information for payee" field - not the "Payee message" field.

Can NoFrixion pull additional fields, or show all the information the sender entered?

At this time, NoFrixion can only display what is received from Banking Circle for a given transaction.
