Understanding Default Roles
NoFrixion provides five default roles to help you manage what your team members can see and do on the platform. You can assign one or more roles to each user, and combine them with account-specific access as needed.
If none of the default roles fit your needs exactly, you can create a custom role.
Owner
The Owner has full access to everything on the platform, with all permissions enabled. This role is assigned automatically to the person who sets up the merchant account and who has completed KYC with NoFrixion.
Note, additional Owners can only be added by an existing Owner, and the role can only be removed with NoFrixion's involvement.
- Key permissions: all platform permissions enabled
- Key limitations: none
AdminApprover
The AdminApprover has near-full platform access, covering all financial operations. The only thing an AdminApprover cannot do that an Owner can is create and edit user roles. To grant these permissions, you can add the User & Role Administrator role to them. Alternatively, you can toggle on those permissions.
- Key permissions: 54/56 permissions enabled
- Key limitations: cannot create or edit roles
Approver
The Approver role is for users who need to manage the full payments workflow, including authorising outgoing funds. Approvers do not have access to user or role management.
- Key permissions: 48/56 permissions enabled
- Key limitations: no access to users or role management, cannot authorise merchant tokens, cannot view or update payment request settings
User
The User role is suited to team members who create and manage payments day-to-day but do not authorise them. Users can create payouts, payment requests, and payruns, but a separate Approver or AdminApprover is needed to authorise outgoing funds.
- Key permissions: 39/56 permissions enabled
- Key limitations: no authorisation permissions enabled, no access to users or role management, and no access to payment request settings
User & Role Administrator
The User & Role Administrator is for users who manage other users and roles. Users with this role can invite team members, assign roles, and create or edit roles, but they cannot perform any financial operations.
- Key permissions: 7/56 permissions enabled
- Key limitations: only provides access to user and role management.
This role is useful because it can be added to or removed from a user at any time. For example, it can be temporarily assigned to cover user management while a colleague is away, then removed when they return.
